ONYX Expert meetings - MarcoRoos - 10-27-2009 11:57 AM
Hi all,
I am from Europe as you might have noticed already, looking at my grammar ;-). I'm from the Netherlands, as you all know the Netherlands is known for its brilliant ideas....;-)
In Europe, ONYX organizes so called "ONYX Expert Meetings" (OEM). The idea behind this is to put ONYX (or LFP..) experts together in 2 annual meetings and discuss advanced topic like: profiling, specific printers, new technology, tricks and tips etc. These sessions are reserved for invitees only and are kept exclusive. (we're talking about 20 to 30 people) here. An OEM usually lasts 2 days and is held at places where we have good weather, good beer (or wine) and printers available.
Since I am visiting the USA quite frequently and also read the threads on this forum, I think it might be a good idea to organize these session in the USA as well. The question is: how many of you are from the USA? And: are you interested in such an initiative? If not from the USA are you willing to travel to the USA?
Please let me know and I will see if I can organize something. (Scott: please let me know if you are interested in this to co-host/organize).
Some ideas for the first meeting might be:
1. 7.3.2 updates in Media Manager (Separation Control tool)
2. PrepEdge Pro training and advanced demonstration
3. Light ink + MultiColor profiling
4. Workflow setup (quick sets etc).
5. Latex technology, UV inks, dye-sub profiling etc.
Since we (my company) have almost every printer manufacturer as a customer and/or partner and we do a lot of work with pre-release machines, technologies and medias we have great resources and backup to organize an event like this (we did it many times before in Europe and Asia).
Just an idea...

You need not worry at all. I am thrilled to have a well respected Onyx expert, such as yourself, posting here at OnyxTalk.
I think this is a great idea, and am interested in seeing how many people would also want to participate. I will contact you privately with some of my thoughts.

I would be interested, but tearing myself away to travel can be difficult and not budget friendly. I would be interested, though!

I understand. Just to emphasize: this is a 'private' initiative and is not organized by ONYX and I think it is a great opportunity to learn. I think... ;-)

What venue are you thinking? I'm sure we're all spread out throughout the US. I'm in Pittsburgh.

I would be interested, although i wouldn't call myself an Onyx-Expert
I live in Austria, started with screenprinting 15 years ago, am digitalprinting 10 years.
At the moment i work for company where i have to do things like profile medias, preflight, correction on files, rip+print. I did a school for contructional engineering which had nothing to do with color, my knowledge is google+help+try
If you got a place for somebody like me then let me know.

Well, virtu......you know the Dutch and you know we've got place for everybody ;-). I am looking into organizing a seminar/training tour in Europe, which might better for you to attend.
