I'm just now getting little bits on information on the upcoming release from Onyx, which has been codenamed "X10". There's not a lot being said right now and they're keeping really quiet, but I wanted to share what I know.
What I'm told at this point is that X10 will dramatically improve the profiling process removing frustration and guess work, which should make all of us color newbies out there happier. The profiling steps have been streamlined, which will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to get good profiles. The cutting workflow for X10 is said to be much better saving customers a lot of time and giving them control to build workflows for unattended printing and cut file generation. I don't know exactly what they are, but I'm told this release will have several ‘industry firsts’ in it. How's that for a nice little teaser? As the information slowly comes out I will continue to share what I can, so stay tuned for more. Scott Manwaring / Administrator OnyxTalk.com - Global Support Community |

They've taken a fantastic product and made it better with their v8. I'm debating whether to jump ship or not (again). |

I'm assuming they're keeping things quiet till they can make a big entrance, and ISA would be a good place to do that. I would imagine a release date would follow not too far from that, maybe sometime in the summer...but we'll have to see, because I'm just guessing at this point. RE: Breaking News: Onyx X1
It's actually "X10"
Scott: Thanks Douglas. I was told X1 initially, but since that point I've heard it referred as X10 by you guys, so I don't know if I was just told wrong at first. No worries, I updated the post. |

Likewise, we can't wait to show it.
Unfortunately, the X is not relative to Apple software. I do know however that Onyx has been run successfully on OSX that had a Windows install, but I have not done this myself. |

It runs fine and prints fine as well. The only issue I have ever run into with it is the eye1 and profiling. For some reason the USB driver does not work well with the Eye1. Otherwise everything works well. I will say it is slow as I do not have much resources dedicated to my VM. But I do know some people that run in production this way. (I personally think it is cheaper to buy PC hardware and run the RIP on a PC and use PrepEdge on the mac) PS. with VMWare Fusion and "Unity" you could run the windows right in the Mac OS, so it looks like a Mac window and does not take up extra space with the start menu and all the other stuff. RE: Breaking News: Onyx X10
Is there any new news regarding this? I have an upgrade from PosterShop to ProductionHouse in the pipeline right now. Is there any reason to not spend the money? What's the catch?
