CutContour problem
Can anyone help me out!
I am trying to do a CutContour on a custom shape decal.
I am designing in Corelx3, exporting as an eps, ripping in Onyx postershop / production house ver 7.3 and then printing to my HP45500 (formerly colorspan 5465UV) and then using onyx cut server to cut to my graphtech FC4100-130

I can get the cutter to cut but it is only cutting a box around the decal, not the custom shape. I checked all my settings and it all appears to be configured properly. What am I doing wrong. HELP!!!

The main problem I am having is getting my "CutContour" fill done properly in corel and exporting as an "eps". It says it is not supposed to print the "CutContour" fill, but it does.
and it does not cut it. Any help and/or direction ill be greatly appreciated.

RE: CutContour problem
I don't use Corel, so I can't verify the exact steps, but here is a snip from an Onyx whitepaper on creating cut paths in Corel. Does what you've done on the corel side match this? The next question would be if your Cut Path Prefix in your quickset matches what you named it in Corel (ie CutContour).

Thanks a whole lot for the quick response Scott!!!

I redone the process of setting up my "spot colour" "CutContour" as per the info file you suggested. I will try this and let you know.

I've posted this on 3 seperate forums in the past few weeks and the responses "though not very helpful" were very slow coming.

Thanks, again, Dennis

RE: CutContour problem
You are most welcome. I hope it all works out for you. Let us know either way and we can troubleshoot further if needed.

Here's the full document I pulled that snippet from, incase you need the rest of the info.

I checked that my hairline pen outline that I want to be my cut line is in fact a spot colour named "CutContour". I export my file a s an eps. (Is there specific settings I should be selecting when exporting my eps file taht will may cause my "CutContour" to not work when I rip it in onyx? I/ve tried everything I can think of and it is still not cutting. All I keep getting is the contour (square box) around my graphic. That is all my cut server keeps cutting. CAN ANY ONE HELP!!! I am running out of hair to pull out!! LOL

RE: CutContour problem
Hey, I know it's been a long time, but just in case you or anyone else reading this thread has that problem, I wanted to make a suggestion. When we first started doing contour cuts, we had the same problem, and it turned out to be a problem in the eps (and pdf) export settings of Coreldraw. You have to make sure that you don't have it set to convert spot colors to process. If you do, it will remove the spot color name and convert it to a regular color value and Production House basically can't see it. Your countour lines should not be visible in preflight, and if they are, it is usually because the spot colors have been converted

Darkcloud,
Thanks a whole lot.
I figured that out by myself also.
