Cutter question
Is it possible to have Onyx automatically create cut files for images that are printed in a nest? I only print square and rectangle shapes, and would love to have onyx automatically create a cut line around every individual "tile" in a print nest, and then have that cut file be sent to a cutter (Zund) to cut my roll.

Thanks

Yes it is possible...are you talking in a nest in layout tool or just a group of jobs nested in rip-queue?

I'm home on lunch, can give specifics when I get back.

Cutter question
I want to nest all my jobs in rip que, and then have it generate the cut file to cut out all the individual components of the nest at the time it prints. If I could get this sorted out I would be incredibly thankful. There is an option in quick set>marks>contour cut paths named "generate tile outline cut paths". I am hoping this is the trick, but when I tried printing out a sample printed nest, alot of the cutter registration dots were overlapping wich makes me think something is going wrong. When I did the test print I had the cutter set to zund under Printer>Change>Setup>Options>Contour Cutting:Zund

That is the option you need to have checked...however it sounds like it's putting registration dots around EACH job? When I do it for my Graphtec or for the Roland it just puts dots around the entire nested job.

Am I correct in assuming you're saying that each individual file inside the nest has it's own registration marks?

Ok, Zund says the actually cut file is okay so onyx seems to be generating the cut path automatically ok. Now we just need to sort out the strange registration mark problem.

I appreciate your help Scott, this is a very important issue for us at the moment.

Yes, but support was sort of unsure of what sort of results we were going to get. It seems that it would be very easy to make all of our cut marks automatically for my printed images, but the nesting is what complicates the matter.

Also, Zund says that they will be able to ask the software to disregard the "faulty" registration dots. So our test prints that we are sending them should work. If we decide to purchase the cutter (likely) then we can refine the workflow properly.

I will be updating this thread as this develops because I couldn't find any sort of info on the web.

Cheers

Just a thought...I heard there were some fixes being worked on related to registration marks for Zund i-Cut. I asked and here was the reference I was given.

PSHP-4136 - Icut creates invisible marks (under image) when doing long prints.

I wonder if this issue is the same as yours? If it is it looks like it's being worked on.
