Embedded profiles
Would like to see information in the rip if the files embedded profiles are being used, or the preset colormanagement.
And of course the smart tiling as being used in Prepedge pro, imho this belongs in the rip. Inkt and material usage/costs calculating administrating tool, to provide an offer to the client or for administration usage. (i use Printmetrix now, but that doesn't work correctly, and has some limitations. Regards, Henry |

RE: Embedded profiles
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but when you enable the print label, you can see if embedded profiles are being used, or not. Can't you?

RE: Embedded profiles
isn't it weird that the rip will count dots and calcuate exact ink costs on each job, but printmetryx works this out from a rather vague "how much ink did you use over that time period" fashion to work out the same detail? Surely combining the ink use info from the RIP, with the material cost prices from PrintMetryx gives the most accurate costing - surely printmetryx could just pull the ink info from the RIP as it does the rest of the job info and ditch the PM ink calcs altogether?
It'd be nice to see the RIP using multliple different embedded profiles. At the moment it'll show "use embedded profile" when the source is a single raster image, but printing from a pdf with content tagged with three or four different profiles... I'm still unclear as to what Onyx does with those. (I currently preflight in Acrobat to an X1a (converting to a single colour space) and manually apply that profile in the RIP - slightly long winded but ensures safe colour communication.) |

Hi Jonkovach, Yes that is correct, but i like to check it in Preflight, Before i print something. Hi Fingers, i wasn't aware that Printmetrix uses a different method of inkcalculating than the rip! So what is the ultimate solution? Totally agree with you to see what kind of embedded profile is being used by the rip. Regards, Henry |

RE: Embedded profiles
You can easily see which profiles are selected for the job in preflight before printing. Preflight - Print & Media tab, Change Profiles. The dialogue will vary depending on the image format. If 'Use Embedded' has been selected (in a quickset for example) this will be indicated here (though not the name of that profile).
sometimes I think that I'd like to know that name but with most unknown images, it's pretty irrelevant - it's what it does that's more important |
