LINES on z6100
Okay all you fellow HP z6100 users! I am getting these lines... I can't get rid of them. They seem to only go through the black... but they affect the edges where the blacks go into other colors. It seems to happen after printing for a little while - it is especially painful now because I am printing a job with all black signs, so the problem kicks up faster than usual.
Temporary solution - clean the printheads through the front panel 2-3 times... solves it for a little bit, but it just comes back. I have enhanced the scans (attached) to show it a little more obvious. My blacks are nice and dark, but these light colored lines run through everything. Does anyone have any idea WHY this is happening, and WHAT I can do to permanently fix it??? Thanks, Jon |

Jon,
We've had that issue before. Have you tried replacing the maintenance cartridge? |

Yeah, that didn't work. We still aren't sure why it happens, but we know that if we run the "clean all printheads" option through the front panel, it reduces how often it happens... but it still continues to plague us.

have you checked your ink lines to see if they have any splits as this may be causing the problem with no ink feeding to the printhead? Cant remember if I had this issue just before my ink lines really split open and drenched the machine

Yes, I have checked for that. I don't see anything. And it happens on all three Zs that I have. Coincidentally, I did have my ink lines break in one of them. After just 6 months of use, I believe. The tech told me that they made a batch of printers with faulty ink lines - got brittle really quick - he wasn't joking. And THAT was a mess!
But yep, I don't see anything like that happening... Wish I did - that would be an easy fix! |
