Onyx Training materials
Does anybody know where there are any training materials or white papers for Production House?
Pardon my ignorance, but I can't seem to find any. If you go to the Onyx website, for example, and go to the training center home (http://www.onyxgfx.com/index.php?area=training), and search for all articles under "production house" using the drop down menu, you get nothing. Not a single article, white paper or video. I'm looking for detailed white papers on how to use media manager. I can't seem to find anything. I went to the training center listed above, and there is one video on media manager and profiling, but it skips past all the complex settings. So where in heck do you find information on this stuff? It's like there's literally no documentation of substance. Like "ICC Profile Generation", which is only a short clip explaining what it does from a marketing standpoint, but there's zero substance. And then I went and looked a a "white paper" on media recalibration that was two pages, and the first page was a title page, and the second page is double spaced and half empty. I could go on, but really, there has to be documentation somewhere, doesn't there? |

Well, you are far from the first person to be frustrated about this. It has long been agreed that providing documentation and making it more easily accessible is not a strong suit of Onyx. They do actually have a lot of white papers in existence (though many now out of date) but they're all over the place and not very organized. There is a white papers directory on the Tech Support FTP, but it's far from everything, and most could use some updating. Here is the link to that. ftp://ftp.onyxgfx.com/TechSupport/White_Papers/ I know that with the new support program they are working to build a knowledgebase. They already have a good amount of stuff in there, and it should be available for free on the 26th with the launch of the new Onyx Links. I'm going to guess it's because of the overwhelming negative response that they are now going to offer the basics at no cost, which I think is a great move for them. I've mentioned before that I thought of creating my own database here, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel if they are working to create a better system for users to access the information. PS: Thanks Hotspur for posting that link. They have it on their website, but not in a logical spot (imho), so people seem to miss it. RE: Onyx Training materials
Thanks Hotspur. Nice to know this exists, but still, the type of explanations I'm hoping for aren't there. Your post in my other thread on this issue was excellent. Onyx should take note. That's the kind of information I would hope to see in a white paper, or in a video on their website. It would be very helpful.
