Recalibrate Feedback
I just had this thought and figured I'd throw it out there.
What if when you did a recalibrate of your media, PosterShop provided some feedback regarding how far your calibration deviates from your target and from your last recalibration. It might even be helpful if it tracks all of your recals and charted them and/or provided suggestions based on prior readings as to how often you should recalibrate. For example if your printer is showing significant drift it would suggest more frequent recal or if your printer shows little drift it could advise a more lax schedule. Perhaps there could be an option to auto remind when a recalibration is suggested. Even for those who religiously recalibrate it might provide significant insight. Anyway, not a breakthrough idea, but it might be helpful to some. |

Recalibrate Feedback
I second that thought. We calibrate, as you say, religiously. Right now, we print out a daily test print, to make sure that no major colors are drifting too far away from each other day to day. But it sure would be nice if it would you give you a Delta reading on certain colors, or the calibration as a whole. Our grays drift daily, and it would help to know how much they are drifting. Other colors seem fine - but if something goes wrong with the calibration, without printing a daily test sheet, you have no idea until you run into a problem.
Sounds good - when is the next Onyx update including this feature coming out?

RE: Recalibrate Feedback
I would like Onyx to incorporate ink restrictions into the recalibration wizard. Right now we have to manually verify that our 100% densities are hitting their marks before we can linearize. Why not create a test pattern where you tell it that you want, for example, 1.45 density for 100% black, then you read a strip that shows the whole range of available black ink; Onyx could then pick the darkest patch for you, make that 100%, and linearize everything inbetween.

RE: Recalibrate Feedback
I agree it would be cool if ink restrictions, transitions and calibration could be done in one step. By measuring that way excluding the human factor as much as possible.
Happy new yaer to all |
