Vector File & Spot White Channels~ this is head scratcher!
Hi!!
We are running a Oce GT and Oce XT thru Production House 7.3.2

here's the issue...
Both printers have White ink.

I'm attempting to print a vector (with outlined font) with a spot channel. When I select the XT and open the vector file, the rip sees the spot layer, and prints CMYK + W correctly.

When the GT is selected the rip sees the spot channel, rips the file, when it comes time to print... I get CMYK, but no white.

If I copy the processed file from the XT to the GT, spot white will print on the GT.
If I open a raster/tif to the GT, spot white will print.

I've tried different output profiles, different files (created by different people on separate computers) as pdf and eps, the default quick set settings seem to match from GT to XT...

I'm stuck... any thoughts?

Thanks!
Linds

Hi,

Please try the following:
1. open a file in preflight
2. select the GT
3. click the color correction tab
4. click on the tools button and select Spot Layer Tool
5. check if you're able to enable the spot color generation.

I think you're using a media or print mode which has no white channel enabled.

Regards,
Marco

When you use the same RIP for both printers and the quicksets are identical, the only difference would be media/print mode selection (more specific: The media / mode options).

Try exporting the media from the XT and importing it into the GT.
